Prince Harry seemed to have made some interesting choice words that seemed to have gotten him into trouble with his father, King Charles, especially amid truce talks.
During his four-day visit to Australia where he undertook several engagements in Canberra, Melbourne and Sydney. Harry spoke about fatherhood during an event organized by the Movember charity, which appeared as if he was investigating his cancer-stricken father in the midst of a strained relationship.
Harry had said that as parenting evolves over time, children are an “improvement” on their own parents.
“I don’t want to say that I have improved my father or that my children have improved me, but the children we raise in today’s world need to improve,” he quickly added.
“There’s no judgment, there’s no blame, there’s no finger pointing. The reality is, regardless of how you parent, that’s a personal experience for you and you’re going to want to get better at it.”
Although there was a lot of negative reaction to Harry, royal expert Jennie Bond explained that this was not a “deliberate comparison” between him and King Charles. Therefore, he immediately clarified things “knowing that some people might use it as criticism.”
Bond claimed that Harry’s language was “a bit clumsy”, but it was not a slight towards Charles.
“I think he simply meant that he wants to be the best parent he can be and equip his children for this rapidly moving and changing modern world,” he said.
“It’s pretty much what every parent wants for their offspring, and I think the King would have understood what Harry meant.”
