The Cleveland Browns, who were rumored to be willing to trade their No. 6 overall pick in the 2026 NFL draft, did so on that Thursday night when they traded the pick to the Kansas City Chiefs.
Cleveland traded the sixth overall pick in the first round of the 2026 NFL Draft to the Chiefs, in exchange for the ninth overall pick, as well as the 74th pick in the third round and the 148th pick in the fifth round.
The Browns now have the No. 9 and No. 24 picks in the first round of the draft. They have a total of 11 picks in the 2026 NFL Draft.

So the Chiefs gave up three picks in making the first trade of the first round.

And we know what the fans of both clubs thought before the selection:
Chiefs fans thought we know something they don’t know. And then the Chiefs drafted cornerback Mansoor Delane out of LSU, a move no doubt forced by the trade of Pro Bowl cornerback Trent McDuffie to the Los Angeles Rams earlier in the offseason.
So the Chiefs fill a major need, assuming Delane is indeed the quality cornerback they believe he is.

By the way, ESPN’s Mel Kiper didn’t like the choice. He had Delane as the 14th best player in the draft.
“It was a necessity,” responded ESPN analyst Louis Riddick, a former NFL defensive back.
Browns fans didn’t think that way.

They were probably thinking something along the lines of, “We screwed up.”
This is understandable because they are Browns fans and this could have been the Browning Browns.
Well, the Browns, moving down three spots, gave up a chance to select Ohio State linebacker Sonny Styles for the Washington Commanders, wide receiver Jordyn Tyson for the New Orleans Saints, and then the Browns had their chance with the newly acquired No. 9 pick:

Fano is good. And he instantly improves the Browns offensive line because he will likely start at left tackle for them.

So what will Browns fans think about this pick?
You’re probably wondering why the Browns didn’t take Miami’s Francis Mauigoa, who went with the No. 10 pick to the New York Giants and promised to “die for” Jaxson Dart if necessary. You might wonder this because Browns fans are expecting the worst.
