The Foreign Office on Saturday denounced a social media post by the British special representative for Afghanistan, Richard Lindsay, about events along the border with Afghanistan, calling the "one-sided comments…lacking a deeper understanding of the situation along the border". The comments come as the UK’s special envoy addressed X and expressed concern about violence along the border. He cited reports of attacks in Kunar in Afghanistan and said measures must be taken to protect civilian lives and prevent further escalation. Lindsay stated this in response to a post about reported civilian casualties in Afghanistan. The British envoy also visited Afghanistan this week and said he had urged dialogue and moderation in meetings there. In a statement, spokesperson Tahir Andrabi said: "We have seen the British SRA’s social media post about the developments along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border."
He added, "Cross-border aggression and terrorist infiltration attempts by the Afghan side have continued unabated despite Pakistan’s goodwill gesture of a temporary pause, announced in March 2026."
Since the break, the spokesperson said, "Indiscriminate and unprovoked cross-border attacks by the Afghan Taliban and terrorist activities by Indian proxies supported by the Afghan Taliban inside Pakistan have given rise to the shahadat [martyrdom] of 52 civilians and 84 wounded."
Pakistan, while exercising restraint, responded effectively "targeting precisely Afghan Taliban posts and terrorist support infrastructure"the statement said. At the same time, Pakistan continued to frustrate "multiple infiltration attempts from the Afghan side". According to the statement, Afghan claims that there were civilian casualties due to Pakistan’s responses lacked evidentiary credibility. "These unjustified observations, without linking them to the fundamental cause of terrorism, do not offer a balanced and objective perspective," said. The spokesperson urged a better understanding of regional dynamics as well as Pakistan’s principled stance and "Unparalleled sacrifices made by the people of Pakistan in the fight against terrorism.". On Friday, Pakistani security forces killed 13 terrorists while foiling two separate infiltration attempts along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Inter-Services Public Relations said. On the same day, local authorities said at least nine civilians were killed while 12 others were injured in cross-border firing and shelling by Afghan forces over the past two months in KP’s Bajaur district. A day earlier, at least five people were injured after the Afghan Taliban again shelled and attacked Pakistani civilian populations in border areas adjacent to Angoor Adda in KP district of South Waziristan, security sources said.
