The country’s religious scholars have issued a fatwa declaring three life-threatening activities – single-wheel riding, kite flying and aerial shooting – un-Islamic, citing the sanctity of human life as paramount.
The fatwa states that any act that endangers life goes against Islamic teachings, which prioritize the protection of human lives.
Academics described these activities as highly dangerous and equated them with acts of self-harm.
Operations DIG Faisal Kamran highlighted the deaths related to these practices, highlighting that Islam prohibits actions that lead to self-destruction.
According to police records, in just 20 days, 151 people have been arrested for wheel riding and 150 cases have been registered for kite flying.
Additionally, 118 criminals involved in aerial shootings have been jailed.
Police vowed to continue strict measures to curb these illegal and potentially deadly activities. Parents were urged to discourage their children from engaging in such harmful behavior.
Kite flying and aerial shooting, in particular, have caused numerous injuries and deaths due to sharp kite strings and stray bullets.
Authorities and religious leaders called for community cooperation to defend public safety and Islamic values.
