Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar on Monday appreciated US assistance in repatriating Pakistani and Iranian seafarers through Singapore during a meeting with chargé d’affaires Natalie Baker.
According to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA), Natalie visited Foreign Minister Dar in Islamabad, where they discussed the evolving regional situation and the broader bilateral relationship between Pakistan and the United States.
“Foreign Minister Dar highlighted Pakistan’s role in facilitating communication between the United States and Iran, while expressing hope that ongoing diplomatic efforts will contribute to peace and stability in the region and beyond,” the statement read.

Last week, Foreign Minister Dar had requested Singapore’s assistance in facilitating the welfare and repatriation of 11 Pakistani and 20 Iranian seafarers aboard vessels seized by US authorities and currently located near Singapore waters.
He also mentioned that he had spoken to Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and emphasized that Pakistan remained in close coordination with Iran on the matter. “Pakistan is also ready to facilitate the safe repatriation of Iranian citizens to Iran through Pakistan,” he added.
Foreign Minister Dar expressed gratitude for Singapore’s cooperation and support, noting that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and relevant authorities were working with US officials and other parties to ensure the safety, well-being and timely return of the nationals involved.
