Today’s search was for words that describe something huge, tied together with the ironically small spangram ITSBIG.
Before I properly started today’s game, I wasted a ridiculous amount of time trying to put the word pistachio together. After abandoning this search, I saw BOUNDLESS, but I still wasn’t sure about the theme, so I took a hint, which made me feel really dumb for not spotting the theme.
Today’s search contains one of my most hated words in WHOPPING, which is only used by journalists in relation to large amounts of money. It’s such a cliché word. Its purpose is to indicate that the sum in question is staggeringly enormous, but if that is the case, then why do we need the word FRONTIER in front of it to tell us so? Surely its enormity would already be evident; After all, “a million dollars” is exactly the same as “a FRIO million dollars.” It’s a very low-level irritation, I admit!
