NDMA Pakistan delegation participated in the 18th Regional Consultative Committee (RCC) meeting in Bangkok, Thailand on Thursday.
The Regional Advisory Committee is a regional forum to promote consultation and cooperation on disaster risk reduction and climate change in the Asia-Pacific region.
The theme of this year’s RCC meeting is “Sustainable Anticipatory Actions for Resilient Development Goals”, which strongly resonates with NDMA Pakistan’s proactive disaster risk management (DRM) approach to anticipate disasters timely through advanced technologies and take appropriate actions to reduce losses.
In his keynote address, NDMA Chairman Lieutenant General Inam Haider Malik highlighted the impacts of climate change in the Asia-Pacific region and Pakistan, including rising temperatures, extreme weather and crises related to water that threaten the progress of socioeconomic development in the region. .
He emphasized the need to develop appropriate financial mechanisms that provide the necessary financial resources to the most affected countries to address the impacts of climate change through DRR and CCA.
