- Masters of the universe Fans may not have seen the last of Skeletor
- His director says he already knows how to bring him back too.
- One of the post-credits scenes of the science fiction and fantasy film shows how he could return.
Masters of the universe Filmmaker Travis Knight has indicated that we haven’t seen or heard the last of Skeletor, and one of the film’s post-credits scenes all but confirms that he will return.
Before the sci-fi/fantasy film’s release, I asked its director if He-Man’s archenemy would return in the future. And while Knight didn’t specify when or where we’d see Skeletor again, the film’s third and final post-credits sequence heavily implies that he’ll return in a future project.

In Masters of the universeIn the final act, Adam/He-Man not only defeats Skeletor, but appears to kill him. In fact, after their climactic battle is over, all that remains of the film’s main villain is the evil sorcerer’s lifeless skull.
However, He-Man fans know not to believe that Skeletor no longer exists. The Havoc Staff-wielding Lord of Destruction has returned time and time again in other Masters of the universe projects, including the 1985 animated series and Netflix’s much-criticized television reinvention of the Mattel-created franchise.
A stinger in the closing credits of this new 2026 film also proves that its time will return. In fact, the final post-credits sequence shows Evil-Lyn, aka Skeletor’s second-in-command, sneaking back to Castle Grayskull and finding Skeletor’s remains. After collecting his skull, she makes a joke about his current situation. Then, as the screen fades to black, we hear Skeletor’s iconic laugh, confirming that he is not as dead as he seems.
So, it’s clear that we will see Skeletor in a sequel to the new Amazon movie, right? I asked Knight this question on the film’s UK tour, to which he responded: “You haven’t seen the last of Skeletor. That’s all I’ll say about that.
“If the world wants more of this and we’re lucky to make a sequel, I know what I’d like to see,” he added when I pressed him for a better answer. “The ending of the movie even suggests where things could go, and there are certainly other stories to tell. But, if we never get the chance to make a sequel, I’m very happy with the standalone story we tell.”
Do you want to know what one of those “other stories” could be? See what Knight had to say about Masters of the universeThe other post-credits scene and how it shows the long-awaited live-action debut of a popular He-Man character.
