PESHAWAR:
Europe is reportedly considering collaborating with two separate committees linked to Afghanistan on the return of Afghan migrants, including one involving Ahmad Massoud, leader of the National Resistance Front, according to sources familiar with the matter.
This development is being seen in diplomatic circles as an indication that European countries may still be considering alternative Afghan political interlocutors alongside the Taliban administration currently ruling Afghanistan.
In Brussels, Afghanistan has reportedly formed a seven-member committee to collaborate with the European Union in the repatriation of more than 27,000 undocumented Afghan immigrants. However, sources said Taliban authorities were surprised to learn that Massoud had also been invited to discussions on the same issue.
A senior source within the Taliban administration said diplomatic contacts at the Afghan embassy in Germany had confirmed Massoud’s invitation.
