Ayo Dosunmu agrees to sign a five-year contract with the Minnesota Timberwolves that includes a player option in the fifth year of the contract.
Dosunmu was the 38th pick in the 2021 NBA Draft by the Bulls.
Dosunmu is expected to return to the Wolves in a deal estimated to be worth $112 million, according to ESPN NFL insider Shams Charania.
Dosunmu and guard Anthony Edwards developed a special chemistry after he arrived from the Chicago Bulls in February of this year.
To secure Dosunmu, Minnesota traded four second-rounders and former lottery pick Rob Dillingham to the Bulls in exchange for Dosunmu.
After trading three-time All-Star forward Julius Randle to the Nets earlier in the night, they focused on securing Dosunmu to a five-year deal after his surprising performance in the playoff run, the report states.
Dosunmu earned a key rotation spot for a conference contender just three months after joining Minnesota.
He averaged 15.6 points in 29.2 minutes during a 10-game playoff season.
To put it in context, the night Timberwolves starting guard Donte DiVincenzo suffered a scary right Achilles tendon injury, Dosunmu scored 43 points as a reserve in an upset win over the Nuggets in Game 4 of the first round of the NBA playoffs.
