The president of the Superior Court of Islamabad, Aamir Farooq, listened to the petition on the personal doctor of Pakistan Tehreek-E-Insaf (PTI), Imran Khan, his meeting with his wife, and a request to allow phone calls with their children.
After statements from the Superintendent of the Adial prison, the Superior Court of Islamabad dismissed the petition with instructions. Imran Khan’s lawyer, Faisal Chaudhry, and the Superintendent of the Adial prison, Ghafoor Anjum, appeared in court.
The president of the Supreme Court asked the Superintendent of the Adiala prison about the facilities provided to the petitioner, to which the superintendent replied that all the facilities were being provided in category B, including television, newspapers and a personal cook.
The Superintendent of the Adial prison also declared that weekly visits were allowed, but they had also provided three to four visits. Before the sentence, Bushra Bibi (Imran Khan’s wife) was allowed to meet him, and after the sentence, they continued to facilitate the meetings.
The president of the Supreme Court asked about the request to allow telephone calls with his children, to which the Superintendent of the Adiala prison replied that they could not facilitate international calls because there were 8,000 prisoners.
He explained that other prisoners could challenge him in the Court if such privilege was granted. He also mentioned that the prisoners from 25 foreign countries were in jail, and granting such calls could establish a precedent.
According to prison rules and government policy, international calls are not allowed. He explained that when the prisoners arrive, they are given a code to make phone calls.
The Superintendent also pointed out that regular meetings were being organized, but once the trial began, it was postponed. He mentioned that there were many people to meet, and only a limited number of visitors was allowed. The president of the Supreme Court said he did not want to get involved.
Imran Khan’s lawyer, Faisal Chaudhry, argued that private doctors had been allowed to meet him and that Khan was allowed to read six newspapers, but only two were provided.
The Superintendent replied that the medical care facilities in the Adiala prison were among the best Pakistan, and doctors provided daily checks. He also confirmed that Imran Khan could watch 16 television channels and received two newspapers. The court dismissed the request to provide instructions in jail with instructions.
Previously, the IHC ordered the authorities to allow the founding president of PTI, Imran Khan, talk to his children on the phone.
The president of the Supreme Court Aamer Faooq heard the case related to Imran applications for several facilities while in prison, including access to a personal doctor, meetings with his wife and telephone calls with his children.
During the hearing, the court ordered that Khan’s wife and political leaders were allowed to visit him according to the prison rules. In addition, a phone call was ordered with the children of Imran and the medical treatment by their doctor.
Meanwhile, Imran Khan reiterated his call to the Pakistani abroad to boycott sending remittances, increasing political tensions while his party, PTI, faces the government.
“Once again, I urge foreign Pakistani to continue their boycott of foreign exchange bougps,” Khan said in an X publication. “Send money to this government strengthens the hands that are squeezing the rope around the necks.”
The appeal occurs when the conversations between the government and the PTI, started last month, broke this week. The Point Dead followed the PTI refusal to participate without judicial commissions to investigate the protests on May 9, 2023 and November 26, 2024.
Khan also asked for demonstrations at the national level on February 8, marking the contentious 2024 elections as a “black day.” PTI alleges electoral rigs by the caregiver and the electoral commission of Pakistan. Both entities deny the statements.
