Rawalpindi:
The residents of the city of Rawalpindi and the acantonation areas are dealing with poor road conditions caused by the lack of maintenance after the cutting of roads for underground services, such as the water supply, the gas and sewerage lines.
Construction work leaves potholes and dust, severely affects traffic flow and makes daily trips a nightmare for locals.
The key roads in areas such as Dhoke Banaras, Dhoke Choudhrian, Westridge-III and the town colony in Cantt, as well as Sadiqabad, the Muslim city and Mohanpura in the city, have deteriorated.
Residents complain about maintenance delays, even after the completion of underground network facilities.
Muhammad ajmal, Shabbir Ahmed and Malik Siddique, citizens, criticized prolonged delay, asking why repairs were not carried out immediately after the end of public services work.
RMC Officer Rafaqat Gondal explained that delays are often due to the fact that the natural terrain sits after the filling.
The RCB spokesman, Rashid Saqib, said that although the Board guarantees maintenance in its jurisdiction, the responsibility of the projects under the local government of Punjab and the Department of Public Health Engineering fall on the respective agencies.
