- There is a new Apple support document on Airpods updates
- Spoiler: You are already doing it correctly
- If things go wrong, try, try again
Airpods, Airpods Pro and Airpods Max de Apple are not like other Apple products: where iPhones, iPads and Mac update their software through a visible and direct process, Apple headphones are more mysterious. Or at least, they were so far.
Finally, Apple has clarified what you need to do to update the best airpods of all kinds. And it is simple: just wait a full moon, turn off your pockets three times and dance the Airpods update dance. If you have been good, the gods of Airpods will smile and bless your outbreaks.
Well, not quite. But even with clarification, it is still a bit opaque.
How to update the software on Airpods, Airpods Pro 2 and Airpods Max
Apple has updated its Airpods Firmware Support page (through the VERG) to explain exactly how to perform an AirPods or Airpods Max firmware. And the steps are:
- You must be in the Bluetooth range of your iPhone, iPad or Mac, and that device must be connected to Wi-Fi.
- For headphones: Put on the load box and close the lid. Connect the load box to a USB charger or port.
- For Max Airpods: Connect the load cable to the right headset and connect the other end to a USB charger or port.
- Wait 30 minutes.
- Re -connect your headphones or headphones to your iPhone, iPad or Mac.
I am a little sarcastic, but here there is a new information: I was aware of all the steps, but I did not know that it could take up to 30 minutes to complete the update, which may explain why I have bothered by firmware updates, I knew that They were available, but that did not settle when they wanted them to do it.
While the new information is useful, it would be good if there was a notification for its update to be complete; At this time, you still need to enter the Bluetooth settings and verify the firmware version manually to see if it has been updated. Maybe Apple adds a notification in a future iOS update.
