The Bitcoin Minera Company (BTC) Bitdeer announced today that he had acquired a 101 MW gas energy plant near Fox Creek, Alberta, to build a “vertically integrated BTC.
“We are really excited to plant roots in Alberta, our first site in Canada. This acquisition is the culmination of extensive collaboration with multiple government agencies and the Blockchain Canadian consortium, “said Haris Basit, Bitdeer strategy director, in a press release.” It marks a significant step in our strategy to become the forefront integrated miner, which gives us unparalleled control over costs, energy efficiency and scalability. “
Bitdeer says they plan to build a 99 MW data center on the site. The site has the ability to climb at 1 GW. The energy production costs for the installation will be between $ 20 and $ 25 per MW/h.
The plant also has a license for an interconnection of 99 MW to the local electricity network, and Bitdeer said it plans to sell energy to the Alberta network to stabilize prices during high demand periods.
“By combining our own energy generation, mining sealing mining machines and opportunistic network participation, we believe that this site will establish a new reference point for the economy of the industry unit,” Basit added.
Bitdeer says he plans to begin the preparation of the site and the initial development of the infrastructure in the second quarter of 2025 and have it completely operational in the fourth quarter of 2026.
