The leader of the Popular Party of Pakistan (PPP), Najmi Alam, has urged the Government of Sindh and the Karachi South Administration to close tea hotels in the Karachi Defense and Clifton areas at midnight.
In a letter addressed to the Prime Minister of Sindh, Murad Ali Shah, and the Southern Karachi attached commissioner, Alam highlighted the concerns that tea hotels have become safe shelters for criminal elements, said Express News.
He also provided alarm for reports of drug trafficking activities at Tea Hotels in Clifton Block 2, where such activities are supposedly carried out throughout the night.
Alam also pointed out that music at full volume in these hotels has become a significant disturbance for local residents, contributing to the growing public disturbances.
The PPP leader has formally requested that the attached commissioner established regulated closing hours for these establishments, with the aim of improving public safety and curbing criminal activity in these areas.
Copies of the letter have also been sent to the principal minister of Sindh and the Karachi commissioner to obtain more measures.
