- The Italian cybersecurity agency has set the recent DDOs in noname057
- The group is responsible for numerous ddos attacks worldwide.
- The attacks were in retaliation to the comments made by the president of Italy.
Recent attacks against several Italian websites have been linked to Pro-Russian computer pirates, the Italian cybersecurity agency has confirmed.
The attacks interrupted 20 websites linked to banking and airports, and it is likely to be due to the recent comments of the president of Italy, Sergio Mattarella, which compare Russia’s war against Ukraine to Nazi expansionism before World War II.
The Italian cybersecurity agency said the attacks did not cause an important interruption, and Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, who also directs the rulers of the Italian party, defended the president’s comments.
Russian reprisals
The attacks were made by a group known as Noname057 (16), which have been related to a series of distributed service denial attacks (DDOS) worldwide. The main objectives of the group in the cyber attacks on Monday seemed to be the Bank’s website in Intessa Sanpaolo, the Monte Dei Paschi Banking website, the Iccrea Banca website and websites for Linate and Malpensa airports in Milan.
The group conducted cyber attacks directed against Taiwanese objectives at the end of last year, including companies such as Formosa Plastics, Wistron and United Microelectronics. The group also claimed to reach several governmental websites linked to airports and judicial systems.
Noname057 also hurried to Japan’s economy at the end of 2024 after the increases to the Japan defense budget and greater coordination in military exercises with the US. UU., What Moscow nominated as a significant cause of concern.
Both attacks against Taiwan and Japan seemed to have caused some interruption, although very limited. Noname057 has been a significant taxsence to the DDDOSIA botnet according to a recent article.
