Wayne Gretzky was presented as the honorary captain of the Canada team on Thursday night before the confrontation against the United States in the final of the 4 nations confrontation.
Gretzky, possibly the best hockey player of all time, received some cheers when he went on the ice with the US team team., Mike Eruzione. Clearly, Boston’s multitude was much more behind Eruzione than “the greats.”

In social networks, the appearance of Gretzky as the honorary captain of the Canada team drew some anger due to the reflections of President Donald Trump about the residents of the northern United States that became the state 51 in La Unión. The president has even been as far as suggesting that Gretzky is the “governor” of Canada.
Hockey fans who looked at the game were far from having fun.
Gretzky was seen at Trump’s inauguration last month. Trump promoted the hockey legend on Christmas day, suggesting that Canadians would write it to become the next prime minister.

When Trump joked with Canadian legislators, he said he asked Gretzky to become the “Governor of Canada.”
“I was with Wayne Gretzky. I said: ‘Wayne, would you like to be the governor of Canada?’ I can’t imagine anyone better than Wayne, “Trump said at a Mar-A-Lago press conference earlier this month.
“Wayne was not too interested. But the state would probably have liked,” Trump added. “He is a friend of mine. He is a great guy. He is the great. We call him the great, right? He is a great hockey player.”
Gretzky did not seem to be influenced in one way or another.

The member of the Hockey Hall of Fame was seen at Trump’s Electoral Victoria party in November.
