Pakistan has confirmed his third case of Wild Poly Type 1 virus in 2025, with the last case reported by the district of Larkana in the province of Sindh.

This marks the second case of Polyomyelitis in Sindh this year, which takes the total number of cases in the province to two, while Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa has reported a case, said Express News.

According to the polio eradication program, 74 cases of polio were reported throughout the country in 2024, with the highest number of Baluchistan (27 cases), followed by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (22 cases), Sindh (23 cases) and one of Punjab and Islamabad.

The first national polio campaign of 2025, held from February 3 to 9, successfully reached 99% of its objectives, vaccinating more than 45 million children against the virus.

Currently, Pakistan is in the middle of his second round of recovery activities, focusing on EPI antigens to children under five years.

In line with the Pakistan Polio Program, a fractional IPV-OPV polio campaign is being launched in the Quetta and Karachi division on February 20 and 22, with the aim of vaccinating approximately 1 million children.

Despite these efforts in progress, the country continues to face challenges to eliminate the virus, with cases that emerge in different regions, which underlines the need for continuous surveillance and vaccination units
