Efforts in Afghan ties are not going anywhere

Islamabad ‘:

Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts to restore ties with Afghanistan have found a dead end, since the differences in beer elaboration within the Taliban have made it difficult for Islamabad to have a significant commitment to Kabul.

The sources familiar with development told The Express PAkGazette on Tuesday, they said that at this point there are almost no contacts between the two countries. One of the main reasons is that the situation in the power runners of Afghanistan is “messy” and Pakistan is not sure who to talk to in Kabul.

Difference reports within Taliban leadership have been making rounds for months. Although the Taliban denied such speculation, the sources in Islamabad said that “everything is not right” within the militant group that seized power in the neighboring country in August 2021.

It is believed that there is a struggle of power between the Kandhari group, led by Chief Taliban Hibatullah Akhundada and the Haqqani network, headed by Sirajuddin Haqqani.

Interim Afghan Interior Minister, last month he traveled to the EAU and Saudi Arabia. However, since then there has been no news about his return to the country. Similarly, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sher Abbas Stanikzai, has been disappeared in the scene for many weeks.

Stanikzai had criticized the decree of the Taliban chief that prohibits the education of girls and also urged Afghans not to follow him blind. There were reports that Chief Taliban ordered his arrest, but fled the country.

To dissipate the impression, last week Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar, Mullah Yaqoob and the head of the Taliban army were seen together in an event in Kabul. However, Sirajuddin Haqqani and Stanikzai were conspicuous for their absence.

The sources here said there were multiple factors behind the growing crack between the Taliban ranks. The main stumbling point is the problem of a prohibition of education and the commitment of girls with the outside world.

The Taliban Amir insists that he would not raise the prohibition of girls’ education, while moderate features, including the lawyer policies of the Haqqani network, address the concerns of the international community.

The movement of President Donald Trump to suspend all kinds of humanitarian and foreign aid also aggravated the problem for the Afghan government. Before the suspension, Afghanistan received $ 60 million per week under humanitarian assistance.

Since the return of the Taliban in August 2021, the United States pumped $ 3.5 billion in Afghanistan. That helped the Taliban regime keep the Afghan economy afloat. But the suspension of financing has now put them in a difficult situation.

The Taliban government is struggling to manage the exchange rate and pay salaries to employees. The moderate factions in the Taliban range blame the uncompromising for the disaster.
