Pakistan has comprehensive laws, but he needs a better application to guarantee a good government, said the judge of the Superior Court of Islamabad (IHC), Judge Mohsin Akhtar Kayani during an event on Wednesday.
Speaking in the competence of the Millennium Universal College court, organized by the university law programs, Sheikh Waqas Bin Aamir (lawyer), Judge Kayani urged students to reject corruption and drug abuse, calling them important obstacles to national progress.
“Each law exists in Pakistan, but the challenge lies in the implementation,” he said.
“A new generation is needed to improve the entire governance model.”
The event, where law students argued cases in front of a simulated bank, was attacked by Judge Sardar Ejaz Ishaq Khan, Islamabad’s general lawyer, Ayaz Shoukat, Sheikh Waikh Waqas Bin Aamir’s lawyer and others.
Judge Kayani emphasized the importance of legal education, urging universities to teach procedural laws more effectively.
He stressed that, although the major generations had played their role, it was time for young people to lead the transformation of the country.
The judge also raised concerns about the increase in drug abuse, revealing that 200 to 300 cases related to narcotics were registering in Islamabad every day.
“It must reject corruption and drugs, and dedicate at least an hour daily to their studies,” Judge Kayani advised to students.
