Islamabad:
The National Authority for Electric Power Regulation (NEPRA) has imposed a fine of RS10 million in the National Transmission and Exhibition Company (NTDC) due to its negligence in the maintenance work that resulted in accidents.
In a verdict, Nepra ordered the NTDC to present the fine within three months. He declared that the established SOPs were not followed during the maintenance work.
Nepra also ordered compensation for affected employees and their families. He said that the lack of adhesion to security protocols was a violation of the nepring law. Accidents pose serious concerns about the performance and capabilities of NTDC, he added.
The authority said he had ordered the NTDC to carry out an investigation into accidents. Despite the approval of eight months, the company did not present the final consultation report.
The NTDC is an energy transmission company administered by the Ministry of Energy of Pakistan. It separated from WAPDA in 1998. The company has all the 220 kV and 500 kV grid stations and transmission lines in Pakistan.
