Stabilized macroeconomy, says PM



Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said Friday that due to the efforts of his economic team, macroeconomic conditions in the country had improved significantly, however, the government would have to work more to improve the conditions at the microeconomic level so that the fruits of economic progress could reach people. I was talking during a meeting with a delegation of prominent industrialists and businessmen in the country. He said the government was working with a priority base for the promotion of industry and business. The business community and industrialists were the backbone of the country’s economy and it was our highest priority to solve problems they face. He said that the government struggled to establish friendly policies with business and investments. The Prime Minister said that investors and the business community received an easy and simple platform from the Special Investment Facilitation Council where facilities were provided through an operation of a window. He said that a large part of the work for the digitalization of the Federal Income Board was completed, added that the Custom Evaluation System had promoted transparency. He said the government was trying to meet the objectives of sustainable progress. Fast progress had been achieved in the last year with respect to foreign direct investment in the country, he added. The prime minister said that the government was focusing to search for direct foreign investments in those areas that could help improve exports. He said that during the visits of Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan, numerous agreements for investment in Pakistan were signed, which reflected the confidence of foreign investors in the national economy. He said that the best way to increase economic growth was to improve country exports. He sought suggestions of entrepreneurs and industrialists for sustainable economic growth in the country.
