Islamabad:
The Government on Friday night cut the prices of oil derived products during the next 15 days, while the Petroleum and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) reduced the liquefied petroleum gas rate (LPG) for the month of March, according to separate notifications.
The Finance Division said in a press release that the price of high speed diesel (HSD) was reduced in RS5.31 per liter, motor spirit (gasoline) by RS0.50 per liter, chest oil per RS3.53 and light diesel oil (LDO) by RS2.47. Separately, Ogra notified a reduction of RS6.15 per kilogram in the price of LPG.
“The Petroleum and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has reviewed and adjusted consumer prices of oil derived products in view of recent fluctuations in the International Petroleum Market,” the Finance Division declared. Prices entered into force from midnight on Friday and would be effective until February 15.
According to the press release, the HSD price cut from RS263.95 to RS258.64; Ms (gasoline) dropped from RS256.13 to RS255.63, Oil of superior RS171.65 to RS168.12 and the LDO of RS155.81 to RS153.34.
Meanwhile, the rate of a LPG cylinder for domestic use decreased by RS72.57, according to the OBRA notification. The notification said that the price of the LPG rate for the month of March would be RS247.82 per kg. Therefore, an 11 kg cylinder would cost RS2,924.31, below RS2,996.88 during February.
The LPG, also known as cooking gas or boat gas, is widely used in Pakistan as an alternative fuel mainly for national and commercial cuisine. In addition, it serves as an energy source in the automotive sector, industrial applications and energy generation.
