Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa’s advisor to information, Barríster Saif, has urged the Federal Government to approve the terms of reference (Tor) for an urgent delegation to Afghanistan, emphasizing the need for an immediate dialogue.

In a statement, Barríster Saif emphasized that guaranteeing the safety of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa residents remains the main priority of the provincial government.

He criticized the federal government for allegedly politicizing the issue of terrorism and questioned why similar objections were not raised when the main ministers of Punjab and Sindh made foreign visits. He said such actions reinforce the sense of deprivation of the province.

Meanwhile, Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed reports that the Afghan authorities tried to build a border post on the Pakistani side in Torkham. This follows the closure of Torkham’s border crossing last Friday, which has interrupted movement and commerce.

The spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Shafqat Ali Khan, confirmed these efforts during a weekly informative session, highlighting the ongoing challenges on the border.

Shafqat Ali Khan explained that the Afghan authorities had been trying to create a position on the Pakistani side of the border, which would have been a violation of the existing protocols.

The Pakistani government has officially expressed concerns with the Afghan authorities and urged them to solve the problem through dialogue and negotiations.

“We have told the Afghan authorities that this issue can be resolved through adequate discussions,” said Shafqat Ali Khan.
