Honor has reviewed its smartphone strategy to become a “company of AI devices ecosystems”, and is working on a new type of smartphone that will have “the human centers designed specially designed to maximize human potential.”
The company’s new CEO, James Li, announced the movement, called the Alpha for Honor Plan, in the MWC 2025, asking the smartphone industry to “co-create an open and shared ecosystem that maximizes the human potential, which finally benefits all humanity.” Talk about ambition.
This Alfa Plan consists of three steps, each of which attends to a different ‘era’ of AI: namely, the era of the AI agent, the physical era of AI and the AGI era (artificial general intelligence). The first, says Honor, refers to the development of a “super intelligent” smartphone, which the company will create in collaboration with several partners, including Qualcomm and Google.
Honor caused several new software tools as part of its presentation, including the exclusive AI AI and a cross -file exchange technology (yes, that means compatibility between iOS and Android devices), which will be presented on its next devices.
For the call was the physical, honor expects that “the industry” can work together to create an ia ecosystem and get the best of this technology potentially that changes paradigm. “I ask that the industry really open so that we can fully adopt this exciting future of ia. Let’s do it together, ”Li said on the MWC stage. Of course, that is more than a bit vague (does “the industry” mean that it means manufacturers of rival smartphones?) But the honor is supposedly investing more than $ 10 billion in this idea of cross collaboration, so the company is certainly committed to the cause.
Finally, the AGI era will welcome “the coexistence between life based on carbon and silicon -based intelligence,” according to Li. AGI refers to artificial general intelligence, a type of non -Crealized AI that coincides with human cognitive abilities. AGI follows ANI (artificial narrow intelligence), which refers to the AI designed to perform specific tasks, and precedes (super artificial intelligence), which refers to the AI that, ahem, is smarter than humans (think of Skynet and Hal 9000, those non -threatening famous systems).
Leaving aside, cross collaboration ambitions are well founded. The last years have seen smartphone manufacturers and large and small software companies that develop artificial intelligence tools that improve the experience (consider the Samsung live translation tool and the Deepfake Deepfake detection function of honor), but are scattered in the industry and between devices.
Pigs can fly before Apple and Samsung talk, but the call to honor action will undoubtedly attract the attention of smaller companies with experience to accelerate the AI revolution.
