PTI Faisal Javed senator was arrested at Peshawar airport on Wednesday while trying to board a flight to Saudi Arabia for his pilgrimage of Umrah, despite having received permission from the Superior Court of Lahore (LHC).
According to the reports, Faisal Javed was scheduled to fly to Saudi Arabia for Umrah when immigration officials at the airport prevented him from addressing his flight. He was reserved on a flight to Saudi when the authorities allegedly took him out of the plane.
In a statement to the media, Javed revealed that the Superior Court of Lahore had granted permission to perform Umrah and had ordered that his name be eliminated from the Pakistan output control list (PNIL).
He affirmed that despite presenting the order of the court at the airport, immigration officials, specifically from the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), refused to allow him to travel, citing a violation of the court ruling.
“I had a scheduled flight for 3:00 pm today, but I was not allowed to travel,” said Faisal Javed. “I showed them the court order, but they ignored it. FIA officials did not respect the judicial instructions.”
The PTI leader emphasized that the court had explicitly directed the elimination of his name from the departure list, however, the government had not fulfilled, preventing him from traveling abroad for his religious duties.
Javed accused the Government of not implementing the Court’s decision and violating his right to travel through Umrah despite judicial approval.
