The S Pen has been a characteristic of Samsung’s largest flagship smartphones from the Original Note Note in 2011, but in 2025, it would be forgiven for questioning its future.
Yes, the now iconic intelligent telephone accessory remains part of the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra, but the S Pen on Stage Galaxy unpacked in January was not mentioned, including Samsung’s official press release for the new phone relegates it to small small printing.
In isolation, these changes may seem inconsequential (Samsung told Lance Uleoff from Techradar that he eliminated the feather’s characteristics of the pen because very few people were using them). But the accessory is clearly not the high priority marketing tool that was once for Samsung, which has caused speculation about its possible interruption in social networks platforms, Samsung’s own community forum and, in fact, here in Techradar.
So what does Samsung have to say about the future of pen? In the MWC 2025, I asked the vice president of the company’s mobile experience (MX) of products and marketing in the United Kingdom, Annika Bizon, and his answer should calm the concerns of the fans of the concerns.

“Multimodal is really important for us,” Bizon explained. “So [that’s] How people use their phone, whether they are speaking, whether they are writing, whether they are in a meeting. People use their pen at meetings to write notes. So, I don’t see a space where S Pen is not a key part of our portfolio.
“And honestly, when you look at the Ultra, it is something that people really do us again. [They ask us] “Will you have a pen?” And dates back to the days of note. […] We see the pen as something key to ultra experience at this time. ”
In a recent characteristic that speculates in the future of the pen, we notice that “the important advances in AI mean that some of the unique functions of the pen are no longer so unique”, but Bizon is confident that the arrival of the AI of the galaxy in the best Samsung phones has not harmed the attractiveness of the pen: “Creativity is one of our central values. Draw things.
Bizon concluded: “The investigation says [consumers are using the S Pen]And it is something we are proud of as part of our portfolio. “
So you have it there. Unless Samsung has a change of opinion between now and next year, you can expect the pen feather to be a characteristic of the Samsung Galaxy S26 ultra unconfirmed.
