A court has ruled that Dua Zehra and Zaheer Ahmed’s marriage is valid, dismissing a petition that sought to declare his Nikah (marriage contract) as false.
The ruling was issued by a judicial magistrate in Karachi East, rejecting the statement presented by Dua Zehra itself. The court declared that if it seeks the cancellation of marriage, it must approach the appropriate legal forum.
Zehra had previously married Ahmed by his own will, after the two met on an online game platform. However, he then presented a petition through his father to annul the marriage.
The case has caused generalized public attention in Pakistan, particularly after Zehra was initially placed in a housing house by court order due to his young age. He later allowed him to return with his family.
