The injection accident in May Hospital kills one, leaves 18 critics

A 31 -year -old woman died and another 18 remain in critical condition after an apparent adverse reaction to an injection at the May Hospital in Lahore, the authorities said on Monday.

The incident occurred in the hospital’s chest surgery room, which caused an immediate intervention of medical authorities.

Dr. Ehtesham, the hospital’s medical superintendent, confirmed death and announced that the use of injection suspicion had been suspended.

A high -level committee has formed, led by Dr. Haroon Hamid, to investigate the matter.

The Punjab government realized the case, with Prime Minister Maryam Nawaz, promising to address systemic problems in public medical care.

The incident occurs days after CM Maryam Nawaz ordered the elimination of the Medical Superintendent (MS) of the May Hospital, after a surprise visit where he found a generalized poor management and poor patient care.

During the visit, the patients and their assistants presented numerous complaints about the lack of medication availability, poor hygiene conditions and lack of medical facilities.

The CM walked through several rooms, directly committing to patients to listen to their complaints.

In one case, a young woman, taking, shared how she spent the night running between pharmacies to buy medications for her sick mother.

The main minister, visibly transferred by account, assured the girl that immediate measures would be taken.

“People come here with hope, but there is no one there to help them. Those responsible for this negligence will be responsible,” he said.

Patients in the cardiology room complained about the presence of insects, while others reported a shortage of syringes, cannulas and other essential supplies.

The CM ordered the hospital staff to carry out an integral inventory verification and guarantee the immediate provision of medical supplies.
