The operational control of Green Line and Orange Line’s bus services has officially delivered the Sindh government.
A ceremony to transfer the operating command and the control of bus and orange line bus services was held at the Center for Command and Operational Control in Garden, Karachi. The CEO of Pidcl, Wasim Bajwa, delivered control to the Secretary of Transportation Asad Zamin, said Express News.
The event was attended by the MD of Sindh Mass Transit Authority, Kamal Dayo, along with Orange Line officials and Green Line Brt Systems.
During the occasion, the principal minister of Sindh, Sharjeel Inam Memon, went to the meeting and declared that the transfer of the green line and the orange line to the Government of Sindh is an important step to further organize the public transport network.
The Sindh government undertakes to improve and guarantee the sustainability of bus services to provide the best travel facilities to citizens. “We will work to improve the performance of bus services through the use of modern technology and regular maintenance,” he added.
Sharjeel Memon also mentioned that an integral and efficient urban traffic system is being developed for Karachi. The work is ongoing plans to connect both BRT lines with other public transport systems.
Last week, the Board of the Transits Massas authority of Sindh approved to assume control of the green line and the Orange BRT line at its 14th meeting, chaired by Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon.
Discussions were maintained on sending documents related to the agreements of Green Line and Orange Line BRT for the Department of Law for their legal validation. It was approved to retain the existing human resources structure of the Green and Orange BRT line for three months.
Meanwhile, the Sindh government has announced an extension in the Operations Service of the People’s Bus Service during Ramadan, with buses that are executed until 1 in the morning from the 15th of the Holy Month.
The Transport Minister of Sindh, Sharjeel Inam Memon, said that the extended hours would apply to the key routes, including R1, R2, R3, R4, R9, R10 and EV1.
He pointed out that the decision was made to address the needs of Karachi residents who trust public transport.
