Karachi: hospitals throughout the city are witnessing an influx of patients with respiratory diseases, since changing climatic conditions affect public health.

According to the emergency emergency position of the Civil Hospital of Dr. Ruth PFAU, more than 150 patients suffering from respiratory diseases visit the installation daily. Meanwhile, the number of respiratory patients has also exceeded 150 per day at the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Center too, a hospital health official revealed.

Medical experts said children were the worst blow due to the increase in respiratory infections. Many patients arrive with throat, flu and persistent cough complaints.

Medical experts warn that patients with asthma experience symptoms that worsen due to current climatic conditions.

Health professionals have urged citizens to take precautions, particularly during Ramadan. They recommend avoiding cold and poor drinks, which can exacerbate throat infections and other respiratory problems.

In addition, they also advise the use of mandatory masks while venturing outdoors to reduce exposure to allergens and pollutants that can aggravate respiratory conditions and slow down the spread of infections.

The Department of Meteorology of Pakistan (PMD) has predicted the warm and dry climate for the city during the next 24 hours, contributing even more to the discomfort caused by seasonal changes.

Temperatures are expected to reach up to 38 degrees Celsius, with moisture levels registered at 40%. Warm and dry winds currently blow at a soft pace.
