The passport headquarters in Islamabad has received a lot of modern printers equipped with the latest technology.
These printers, imported from Germany, include two electronic publications and six desk printers, said Express News.
Passport Director Mustafa Jamal Qazi visited the electronic printing section and was informed by foreign experts in the installation process.
A foreign technical team has arrived in Pakistan to help in the installation of printers, which is expected to be completed soon.
According to Qazi, new printers are able to print 1,000 passports per hour, significantly increasing production and improving the quality of the printing. In addition, he added that additional electronic publications will arrive next month, further accelerating the passport printing process.
Modern technology is expected to improve the efficiency and general quality of passport impression in Pakistan.
A few days ago, Federal Minister Chaudhry Salik Hussain realized the alleged blockade of the Pasportes of the Pakistani abroad and has formally written the Interior Ministry in search of an investigation.
The problem was raised by the Pakistan France business forum, whose leaders urged the government to take measures. Hussain described the “highly sensitive” matter and emphasized that expatriates should not face undue difficulties.
The minister declared that Pakistani’s abuse abroad would not be tolerated and announced that facilitation desks in airports would be established to help them.
A letter from the forum leaders, including Ibrahim Dar, Zahoor Iqbal and Aslam Chaudhry, claimed that thousands of expatriates have blocked their passports, and airport staff demanded bribes of up to RS500,000.
The authorities have promised rapid action to investigate and solve the problem.
