Karachi:

The Sindh Assembly unanimously approved a resolution that condemns the recent kidnapping of the Jaffar Express passenger train by a Baloch terrorist group, praising security forces for their role in frustrating the attack and rescuing all hostages.

Prime Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah presented the resolution during the session, chaired by Rehaza Laghari. Shah denounced the cowardly attack while praising the timely intervention of the army. He asked that the resolution be approved unanimously to transmit a unified message of national solidarity against terrorism.

The resolution received generalized support throughout the assembly, with MPA praising the coordinated efforts of the Baluchistan government, the Pakistan army and the agencies of application of the law for its courage and efficiency in the management of the situation.

The Minister of Health, Dr. Azra Pechuho, condemned the use of women and children as human shields during the kidnapping of the Express Jaffa, qualifying it as a representable act. He also denounced the propagation of erroneous information and negative campaigns in social networks regarding the incident.

PPP legislators, including Sardar Khan Chandio and Imdad Pitafi, expressed their full support for the actions of the military against terrorists. Chandio said that Baloch culture does not tolerate attacks against women and children, which underlines the cultural and moral representability of such acts.

Muhammad Farooq of Jamaat-E-Isami described the attack as part of a broader international conspiracy, asking for the resolution of cases of forced disappearance and the prosecution of those responsible for the attack of Jaffar Express.

The local government minister, Saeed Ghani, characterized the attack as a “stab in the heart” of Pakistan. He praised the sacrifices of security agencies in the country’s defense, and strongly criticized those who have become accustomed to belittling the Armed Forces, urging respect for the sacrifices of Pakistan’s martyrs.

The MQM-P member, Muhammad Mazahir, recognized the heroic actions of the Pakistan army in the incident, but criticized some people for politicizing the attack. PPP MPA Taimur Talpur raised concerns about alleged external interference, particularly India and Afghanistan, in the destabilization of Baluchistan. He suggested that the dialogue that involves local elders could be key to solving the problems of the region, and also condemned social media campaigns and the efforts of the anti-Pakistan media attributed to India.

The opposition leader Ali Khursheedi expressed his support for the resolution, praising the army and security agencies of Pakistan for his decisive actions. He urged the Government to visit the National Action Plan to strengthen efforts to prevent similar attacks in the future.

The senior minister of Sindh, Sharjeel Inam Memon, highlighted the time of the attack, suggesting that such incidents orchestrate every time Pakistan’s economy shows signs of improvement.

He recognized the historical complaints of the people of Baluchistan, saying that these were approached by the Asif Ali Zardari Aghaz-E-Haqooq-E-Falochistan initiative.

Sharjeel expressed his belief that certain external forces cannot tolerate Pakistan’s progress and, therefore, are behind the conspiracies and attacks ongoing.
