Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has announced to provide significant relief in electricity invoices while maintaining oil prices without changes, said Express News.
The prime minister said that instead of reducing fuel prices, the financial margin created by global oil price fluctuations would be used to reduce electric tariffs.
“This is one of several measures that we are taking to bring significant reductions in electricity rates,” he said. “A comprehensive and effective strategy is being completed to guarantee lower power rates.”
The Government will present an aid package in the coming weeks, taking advantage of the financial space created by the world variations in the price of oil and other economic measures.
Prime Minister Shehbaz reaffirmed the commitment of his administration to prioritize public relief, saying that the next cuts of power rates would also help stop inflation.
According to a statement from the prime minister’s office, Shehbaz Sharif will soon go to the nation to describe the aid measures.
