Karachi:
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has approved a special development package to address Karachi’s main problems. The package will be announced during your scheduled visit to the city. The package can mount between RS10 billion and RS50 billion or more.
Federal government officials revealed that MQM-P’s leadership, a key ally of the federal government, and Sindh Kamran Khan Tessori governor had informed the prime minister about Karachi’s problems in previous meetings. They had asked the Prime Minister to provide a special development package for the city.
The allies informed the Prime Minister about Karachi’s problems in detail and emphasized the need for a special development package for the city, for which the green signal has been given.
According to the package, the projects will be formulated for the city’s infrastructure, water supply, wastewater, health, environment and other problems. The federal government will consult the governor of Sindh, MQM-P, and the provincial government, as well as all interested parties, to finish the package.
A coordination, work and implementation committee will soon be established under the presidency of the Federal Minister for the Planning of Ahsan IQBAL for this purpose. All those interested, including the governor of Sindh, MQM-P and the provincial government will be part of the committee.
The formal announcement of the development package of the Prime Minister for Karachi is expected to soon.
The Governor of Sindh declared that he and the leadership of MQM-P had asked the prime minister to provide a development package for Karachi for several projects. The prime minister has ensured cooperation for the resolution of Karachi’s problems.
