Islamabad:

A day after the high-level security group was urged to reconvener, the Federal Government commissioned on Tuesday to the president of the Pakistan’s Party (PPP), Bilawal Bhutto Sargoi, to involve the Pakistan Tehreek-E-Insaf (PTI), accepting its offer to mediate between the coalition of the rule and the opposition.

Speaking on a private television channel, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and PML-N senior leader, Rana Sanaullah, said the government was open to reconvery the National Security Parliamentary Committee (PCNS) if Bilawal brought PTI to the table.

“Bilawal Bhutto is already part of the Government. If you successfully mediate between PTI and the Government and negotiations produce positive results, it will be a significant success for us,” said Prime Minister’s advisor.

Although Sanaullah referred to Bilawal as part of the Government, it is pertinent to observe that the president of the PPP has constantly maintained that, although his party supports the government led by PML-N and is located in the banks of the Treasury, it is not part of the federal cabinet.

The Government’s movement follows Bilawal’s call to a united front against terrorism and its concerns about the absence of key political parties, particularly PTI, of the recently held high -level security meeting.

On Monday addressing PPP workers in the Governor’s Chamber of Punjab, he urged the PCNS session with full political representation, emphasizing that Pakistan’s security challenges required collective responsibility.

While pressing for a broader participation, Bilawal also criticized opposition parties for prioritizing political disputes over national security.

Going directly to the opposition leader Omar Ayub Khan, urged PTI to reserve internal complaints and focus on pressing national problems, including terrorism, economic instability and governance failures in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Baluchistan.

He stressed that national security should not be hostage to PTI’s unique demand to release his supreme imran Khan. He warned that Pakistan’s internal divisions were being exploited by external forces and emphasized the need for national unity.

Positioning PPP as a bridge between the government and the opposition, Bilawal argued that the unique position of his party, nor completely in the government or the opposition, allowed him to facilitate dialogue and work to solve key national challenges.

On March 18, the PCNS had approved a unanimous statement, reaffirming Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to eradicate terrorism in all its forms and promised a decisive action against any element that threatens national stability.

The main civil and military leadership of the country had reaffirmed its commitment at the first security meeting in Parliament during the Coalition government led by PML-N, which was boycotted by the key opposition party, PTI, among others.

The Committee had reiterated that no institution, individual or group acting in collusion with hostile forces may undermine Pakistan’s peace and stability. Expressing regret for the absence of some opposition members, he had said an official statement, the Committee reaffirmed that consultations on this matter will continue.

During the session in the camera, military leadership had provided detailed information about the prevailing security situation, particularly in Baluchistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The meeting was informed about ongoing anti -terrorist operations, recent threats and the comprehensive strategy of the State to guarantee internal security.

The PCN meeting was convened after security concerns increased after a series of attacks, particularly in Baluchistan, where militants recently kidnapped a passenger train and carried out a suicidal bombing in a security convoy.

Previously, the terrorists had attacked against Bannu’s cliff in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where 16 terrorists and five soldiers died were martyred.

In addition, Maulana Hamidul Haq Haqqani, the son of Mauula Samiul Haq and the head of his own faction of Jamiat Ulema-E-Islam (JUI-S), was among the six people who perished in a recent suicide attack in the Darul Uuloom Haqqani in the Newshera district, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
