- A new research of Randstad reveals that many technological workers have left their work in the last year
- This is thanks to difficult working conditions
- IT workers are under significant pressure and expensive stress and exhaustion.
If you have ever considered leaving a job that has become too demanding or dominant, it is not alone, since the new research affirms the inflexibility of employers regarding the location, the hours of work and the “work intensity” have led to 40% of the technological workers of the United Kingdom who renounce last year.
A Randstad survey of more than 2,500 technological workers found that two out of five respondents said that the hard -line policies, such as the return to office mandates and long hours of work imposed by employers, had pressed them in the last year, with more than half (56%) threatening to seek alternative employment if the flexibility requests were not met.
Remote workers overwhelmingly say their agreement increases their “sense of community” with colleagues, and 68% say that if employers were more indulgent with hours, work intensity and remote work, they would trust them more.
Industry burning
This research is not the first to suggest that the industry is fighting, with previous surveys that indicate a large proportion of IT workers feel exhausted or stressed (73%), with large workloads, adjusted deadlines and a lack of resources that contribute to the problem.
The requests back to the office have been sweeping the technology industry, with companies such as Dell and Amazon pressing for the end of remote and hybrid work. These policies are deeply unpopular with employees, which leads many to consider leaving their positions.
“Personalized labor benefits and flexible options are essential not only to attract maximum talent but also to retain them in competitive markets,” said Randstad Digital President Graig Paglieri.
“Policies must align with organizational, team and individual needs, ensuring a flexible and personalized approach.”
With a notorious shortage of technology skills, more is being pressed in workers than ever, which means that many are not happy at work. That said, technology remains one of the industries with the best compensation for workers, with many in high salaries.
