Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif presided over a key meeting attended by federal and provincial leadership to address the continuous threat of terrorism in the country.
The meeting, held at the Prime Minister’s house, included representatives of the four provinces, as well as Azad Cashmira and Gilgit-Baltistan, along with military and civil leaders, said Express News.
The meeting focused on presenting the attackers responsible for the assault of Jaffar Express and ensuring that everything possible to expose them to the international community is done.
In addition, participants agreed to counteract antinational campaigns on traditional and digital media platforms effectively.
A key decision taken during the session was to reinforce the national narrative under the National Action Plan (NAP), with a mandate for the National Narrative Committee to formulate a stronger and more active narrative to counteract terrorism and extremism.
Leadership also resolved to avoid the spread of any material that undermines national security and unity. It was agreed that there will be a concerted effort to avoid any content that harms national interest, especially in the form of misinformation or propaganda.
To involve young people, the Government decided to incorporate national issues in films and television dramas that promote national narrative and ideologies against extremists.
All provinces have agreed to cooperate in this initiative, with the aim of positively influenceing the youngest generation.
In line with this, the meeting decided to ensure that digital media platforms are used to spread the national message, address the negative social impacts of terrorism and counteract false news, particularly on social networks.
In addition, the meeting emphasized the combination of Deepfake videos and other forms of content manufactured, proposing the use of credible information in response.
Leadership also decided to incorporate the awareness of the problems related to terrorism in the national curriculum to ensure that future generations are educated about the dangers of extremism.
