Gabriel Oluwasegun Olanrewaju, a professional boxer from Nigeria, He died suddenly over the weekend after collapsing in the third round of a lightweight fight in Ghana, according to the officials.
Oluwasegun died tragically on Saturday at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital, located in the capital of Accra, after collapsing less than half of his eight round fight against Jon Mbanugu de Ghana, the Ghana Boxing Authority (GBA) He said in a statement.

According to the GBA statement, the ring doctor and the paramedics tried to resurrect Oluwasegun in the scene before being transported to the hospital, “where he was declared dead 30 minutes after arrival.”

No cause of death has been revealed, but the GBA described the situation as an “induced coma” in its statement.
The World Boxing Organization also published a statement that requested “the urgent need for rigorous test protocols to guarantee the health and safety of our combatants.” The GBA said that Oluwasegun was “medically declared in form by the control of the Nigeria Boxing Board (NBBC)” before the fight.
“We tied deeply with the Nigeria Boxing Control Board (NBBC), all the fraternity of Nigerian boxing and the global boxing community about this irreplaceable loss. Gabriel’s premature departure not only deprives the boxing of an admirable competitor, but also reminds us of the unpredictable nature of the sport that a little sucking.”

Adams said the Ministry and GBA will work with officials in the investigation of the sudden death of Oluwasegun.
The 40-year-old boxer entered the fight with a record of 13-8, with 12 of those victories by knockout.
