- Texas State Bar Association warns members about data violation
- Is offering free monitoring of credit and identity theft
- Inc ransomware the responsibility of the attack was attributed
The Texas State Bar Association, the Official Regulatory Authority for Lawyers in the State of the United States, has confirmed the suffering of data violation that resulted in the theft of confidential members data.
“On February 12, 2025, the Texas State Bar Association identified suspicious activities on its network and moved quickly to ensure its environment,” said a letter of data violation of data to the affected people. “Through the investigation, we determined that there was an unauthorized access to our network between January 28, 2025 and February 9, 2025.”
The Texas State Bar Association is responsible for the license, the application of ethics and professional development. Its members are mostly licensed lawyers, and also provides legal resources for the public and supports the legal profession through education and defense.
Inc ransomware
While the organization did not detail the type of stolen information, or the identity of the attackers, Ransomware operators called inc ransomware attributed the responsibility of the violation. In fact, the group has already leaked data samples on the dark website, which include names of full members and some legal cases.
Although the authenticity of the data has not yet been determined, the Texas state bar has already offered the free credit and identity robbery monitoring service through Experian, until July 31, 2025.
Potentially affected people are also recommended to activate a credit freezing, or place a fraud alert in their credit files to ensure that the attack does not increase more.
If the organization is added to a escape site and the samples are available to download, then it is safe to assume that the negotiations between the attackers and the victim are ongoing.
If the files are deleted, then the organization probably paid the rescue demand. If all the data is put on sale (or downloaded), then the negotiations were probably broken.
The application agencies advise not to pay the rescue demand.
