- Microsoft has updated Copilot to make the assistant to the proactive partner
- Announced as part of Microsoft’s 50th anniversary co -driver event, these new features will begin to be implemented today
- The features include the chatbot memory, a research tool and awareness on the screen, to name only a few
Microsoft Copilot is making the leap, transforming from a mere chatbot of generative a full -fledged partner. At least, that is what Microsoft promises in one of the most important co -driver updates to date.
The changes, which add a wide range of new capabilities and improve some existing ones, were announced on Friday, April 4, as part of the Copilot/50th Anniversary of Microsoft.
Okay, many of these characteristics will be familiar to those who execute GEMINI of Google and Chatgpt of Openai. In fact, there is a solid possibility that some of these improvements come directly from the Microsoft Association with Openai, which gives access to many of the best generative models of the AI company.
The co -pilot, after all, is based on the base of the Openai GPT models.
Among the changes, Copilot fans will find in Windows (and iOS and Android applications) is, finally, a memory. The current version of Copilot on Windows 11 can hold previous conversations, but does not remember what he argued. A new warning that I asked about a recipe or a trip that was planning with the help days of Co -nursing days or weeks ago, would extract a white digital look from the generative AI.
That changes with this update. As you speak, Co -ilot (with permission, of course) will collect key information about you that indicate not only facts but also preferences. Microsoft states that the new co -pilot will create “richer user profiles.” Now he has the potential to “learn who you are deeply.” While that may sound invasive, Microsoft says that you can control exactly what you want Co -You learn and retain.
Personalization and memory are significant benefits, but they can be overcome by the new Copilot Agent capabilities that Microsoft calls “actions.” Where the previous co -pilot could help you get concert tickets and take the Big Show, or find a new apartment and even engines to help you load your things from one place to another, co -driver actions can take a warning about the rental of an apartment or reserve storage and do all the work in things to happen. You are just entering a warning.
Of course, it is not so simple. Copilot’s action capabilities are not ubiquitous. Microsoft has a small collection of launch partners that includes Opentable, Priceline, VRBO, Viator, Kayak, Expedia, TripAdvisor, Skyscanner, Booking.com and 1-800 floats. It seems that, for now, the actions will only work if you want measures through these applications and services.
Now look at this
The update is also making the co -pilot in Windows and mobile applications more conscious. While the current version can see photos and screenshots loaded at AI, the new version can use the camera of your mobile phone to see what you are watching (photos or videos will be seen).
Perhaps more interesting is that Copilot’s Windows application can see the activity on the screen within applications. Finally, he will fulfill his name, acting as a co -pilot in the file administration, the Windows configuration and the work on projects. It is the type of system awareness that Apple has been promising from Apple Intelligence and Siri for almost a year, but has not yet fulfilled. It will be interesting to see if what Microsoft offers here with Copilot is as good as announcing.
The new pages capabilities can take disparate project files and organize them in a single canvas. But the pages seem to be more than an organizer, can help him make a brainstorm and then alter them and incorporate them into their own projects.
Deepen
If the pages do not have their project there, you can appreciate the new deep research. I know that everyone calls the research part of their generative “deep” platforms [something]”. This seems to work in a similar way, since it can help you achieve several steps investigation, acting as a kind of very intelligent research assistant.
Copilot is even deepening podcasts. Similar to what we have seen with the generative podcasts of Spotify and Google Notebooklm, it can generate podcasts based on issues of interest or other discussions that it has had with AI. Microsoft states that the podcast can reproduce even while continuing to feed new indications to co -pilot. It sounds a bit confusing, but also powerful and intriguing.
There is also a purchase update, turning the co -pilot into a proactive personal buyer that can see offers, investigate products and even manage the purchase.
Finally, Copilot is taking Bing Search in what could be better described as a Google AI Summary address, but in a subtle and perhaps tasty way. From the aspect of things, Bing search results will offer the option to take generative immersion within traditional search results. It looks pretty good in the demonstration video, but we are eager to see how Bing’s live search results work.
Not all of these updates will appear at the same time in Windows, IOS and Android, but many begin to be implemented today. If you already have Windows 11 executing Co -cilot, you may want to download the latest update and give your co -pilot an AI AI Companion update.
