KaleidesCape may not be a name with which he is familiar in Australia. That is because, until now, the company has not had a presence in the decline.
If you are familiar with the brand and what you do, that is, it produces some of the best movie players in the home generally reserved for the luxurious personalized installation market, then the company’s arrival in our coasts could be the most exciting news you read throughout the year.
It is certainly up to the most exciting AV ads for me.
KaleidesCape is, according to the company, the “only supplier of digital films with audio without losses and quality of full reference video” through its players that, after the recent launch of the Stato M, is now found in three models.
Strato M is more of entry level for KaleidesCape standards, since it only generates a quality of 2K, and is below the Stato C and Strato V. Both players come out in 4K quality, with Strato V with the additional benefit of the Dolby Vision HDR support.
The three players are now available to buy in Australia, along with KaleidesCape Terra Prima media servers to store content downloaded from the brand store.
Australian prices have been confirmed as AU $ 3,999 for Strate M, AU $ 5,899 for Strato C and AU $ 7,499 for Strato V servers. Terra Prime begin in AU $ 10,999 for 12 TB of storage.
Great news for fans of the big screen movie
While the brand is new in Australia, I have been familiar with KaleidesCape for some time, since I am a home cinema enthusiast and the brand has followed a cult of cult abroad. What I am not familiar is exactly how their products work.
Fortunately, my American colleague to Griffin has had the opportunity to experience a complete system of trails for himself and, according to his impressions, I cannot wait to experiment myself.
What seems evident to the success of KaleidesCape is not necessarily the equipment it produces, but its online store for films downloads and the user interface to navigate through a downloaded collection. As he said to his article, “the videos downloaded from the company’s store have a bits rate 10 times higher than typical transmission services and, consequently, have a more sharp image that is free of compression artifacts.”
“And unlike transmission services,” he adds, “that they use the Dolby Digital Plus Plus Plus Plus Plus, KaleidesCape without loss, between the Dolby Atmos and DTS: X formats also offered on the Ultra Hd Blu-ray album.”
In fact, Priscilla Morgan, president and director of Operations of the Company told me: “Kaleidescape obtains the mezzanine archives directly from the studies and we have a process of comprehensive review of our content team that guarantees the quality that the director intended.”
I am a fan of high quality movies at home, both in terms of image and sound. I have even affirmed before integrated transmission applications of my TV they sound better than the Apple TV 4K. While I am currently happy with the quality I can get at home, both for the best transmission services and my growing collection of ultra HD 4K Blu-ray records, the possibility of being eclipsed by a multimedia player KaleidesCape is difficult not to be excited.
KaleidesCape says that 3,000 titles are available to today’s launch, and add more daily. The content, of course, will be the true key factor for the success of KaleidesCape. When my colleagues at What Hi-Fi? They reviewed the Strato C movie player in the United Kingdom last year, noticed that the film store lacked content of the main studies, including Disney and NBC Universal, among others, due to licensed restrictions. I have not yet been able to confirm whether these studies are also missing in the Australian store, but I will update this article as soon as I discover it.
Bridging the Gap
It was a bit skeptical about the amplitude of the home community in Australia, but Priscilla quickly discredited those thoughts, making sure that “Australia has enthusiasts of home cinema enthusiasts who appreciate the best in image and sound quality.”
He added that “the comments of Australian distributors and distributors indicated that there is a strong demand of KaleidesCape, and are excited that they finally reach their market.”
Now, it is not wrong, a KaleidesCape system will be the most appropriate as an addition to a dedicated home cinema. Not only because it will probably be equipped with a screen and a sound system to faithfully reproduce high quality movies, television programs and concert videos of the KaleidesCape store, but also because people with a home cinema will probably will probably be the only ones willing to spend large in the required equipment.
That said, the stato M in particular could occur as a more profitable option. Priscilla Morgan adds: “With Stato players and Terra Prime servers that vary in capabilities and price points, we offer a wide range of products for customers seeking to enter the KaleidesCape ecosystem.” So, what could have been seen in a pretended way as just an aspiration for many, now it could be a more realistic temptation.
Since Kaleidscape products are now available in Australia, I hope I have not to wait too long to discover what they are really capable. I only worry that once I do, I will not be happy with the reality of the configuration of my living room.
