- According to reports, Canon has canceled some planned price drops for two cameras
- Tariffs are being blamed for the canned Eos R7 and Eos R10 falls in the US.
- Blackmagic also recently confirmed that the price increases for its cameras in the US.
If you are a technology fan, it is difficult to escape concerns about tariffs at this time, and cameras may have experienced their impact on the real world for the first time with the informed cancellation of some planned canon price falls.
Rumors of reliable canon say that it has been said that “the price falls that were scheduled for May both in EOS R7 and EOS R10 have been canceled in the United States.” Annoying for anyone who has planned to buy an affordable mirror without a mirror, it was also told that “price falls were going to be significant.”
On the positive side, if you live in the United Kingdom or the EU, Canon Rumors says that its source has affirmed that the price falls of Canon Eos R7 and Eos R10 “are still scheduled to happen.”
That could change, but it is another sign of the significant geographical variations that we could see this year with respect to discounts and prices.
Of course, nothing is safe at this time, and if the United States and Japan reached an agreement that reduced the impact of rates, the situation could change. However, as things are, Canon Eos R10 (which we still describe as the best camera for beginners) and his brother Eos R7 of medium range will not be as temptingly affordable as it could have been this year.
Unfortunately, this will probably be only the beginning of another year of Russian mountain for cameras fans …
ANALYSIS: I could get a lot of worse
US price updates.! Due to new rates, most of our US prices have increased. See our US website for more details. Prices in other countries currently do not change. https://t.co/w40iiwma02April 6, 2025
Clearly, missing potentially large chamber price falls is not excellent, especially if you have been thinking of obtaining a new EOS R7 or EOS R10. But if the first signs are an indication, things could soon get worse, particularly in the United States.
During the weekend, Blackmagic published the previous notice, confirming that their US prices had increased “due to new rates.” In some cases, the ascent was quite dramatic, with the new Blackmagic pyxis 12k G2 watching its label up 32%.
Is that a sign of things that come from other camera manufacturers? While it is difficult to predict anything with true certainty at this time, it is certainly possible. A large amount of canon manufacturing is carried out in Japan (beaten with a 24%tariff), while the Nikon average range equipment is performed in Thailand (which currently has a 36%rate).
Unless we see some rapid commercial agreements that reduce these rates, it is fair to assume that many camera bodies, lenses and accessories, perhaps most, will become much more expensive this year.
If that happens, we can expect to see that used prices also increase, as the number of bargain hunters and pre-tarifa supply increases. In other words, it could become a good time to delay its next camera update or at least rethink the situation as a relief of gear acquisition syndrome (also known as gas in the camera circles).
It’s time to prepare for a rocky walk.
