- Pico has just debuted waist trackers that work as their feet trackers
- It is now available for £ 39.99 (around $ 50 / au $ 85)
- When we checked the 4 ultra peak, its movement trackers were the best feature of the headset
Pico has just announced an update to its best VR headset function: a new movement tracker for the waist, and once again, I stay wishing that my Quest 3 goal can also obtain this update.
When I tried the 4 ultra peak last year, its best characteristic was the pair of movement trackers that could buy as a complement. These were often included for free as part of a package during sales of VR headphones.
You would attach to your feet, and you could bring surprisingly precise feet to the backed games. Combined with the monitoring of the hands, this led to supremely immersive experiences, since it could interact with its entire body as if it were really in the virtual space.
Now, that simple but effective solution is reaching a new peak movement tracker for its waist. In fact, the device will be launched today (April 9, 2025) for £ 39.99 (about $ 50 / Au $ 85).
We have not been able to try the tracker for ours VRCAT and compatible PCVR titles through the Pico Connect function.
I can see that this waist tracker is perfect to exercise virtual reality, dance games and allow players to use new virtual reality accessories such as a Hula Hoop, but we will have to wait and see how it is implemented.
Goal needs a better body tracking
Goal offers its own basic body tracking through the cameras oriented down their headphones, but it is not the most robust solution. The AI on which it is based is quite good to predict where their legs and body should be, but it is not always perfect. In addition, it has not been implemented in many virtual reality applications of the way it has been the sophisticated peak solution.
While peak movement monitoring is excellent, I am not yet convinced that it is the best headphones option for most people.
It does not have the same impressive software catalog that you will find in the finishing missions, and is more expensive than the goal 3S and Quest 3 goal without offering a significant increase in performance.
That, along with that it is not available to buy in all regions, the Quest 3 goal includes the United States, and that is a device that has struggled to build a name, except among virtual reality enthusiasts who are firmly antimette.
Meta has not yet announced physical movement trackers for Quest, with its CTO shooting the idea last year (through UPLOODVR), but I seriously hope that they change. They are easily the best peak feature, and the Quest 3 goal would be much more versatile if it had access to the same tools.
