Eight Pakistani workers killed in the attack in southeastern Iran

Eight Pakistani citizens were brutally killed in the province of Southeast Sistan-Baluchestano in Iran, Iranian and Pakistani officials said on Saturday, in what has been described as an impressive act of violence near the shared border of the two countries.

The victims, all from the Bahawalpur district in the province of Punjab in Pakistan, were working in a car workshop in the remote Hazerebad village in the district of Mehrestan, where they carried out paint of vehicles, polished and repair work.

Among the deceased were Dilshad, his son Naeem and others identified such as Jafar, Danes and Nasir.

According to local sources, the victims were found with their hands and feet tied and had been shot dead at a short distance.

According to the reports, the attack occurred during the night when the unidentified assailants broke into the workshop and opened indiscriminately fire, killing the eight men on the spot.

Iranian security forces cordoned off the area and recovered the bodies. The authorities have launched an investigation, but no arrests have been made and the perpetrators remain unidentified.

No group has assumed the responsibility of the attack so far. However, preliminary reports suggest the participation of an anti-pakistan militant organization that operates in the border region.

The Pakistani embassy in Tehran confirmed that its representatives have reached the site to help identify the bodies and collect more information.

“We are in continuous contact with the Iranian authorities,” said a spokesman for the Pakistani embassy in Tehran. “All possible measures will be taken to support affected families and ensure that justice is served.”

Pakistani workers are commonly used in Iran’s border regions, particularly in the repair of vehicles and agriculture. However, the latest murders have raised new concerns about the safety of foreign workers in the disturbing eastern provinces of the country.

This is not the first time that such an incident occurs in the region. In January last year, nine Pakistani nationals were killed by armed men not identified in Saravan, another city in Sistan-Baluchestan.

According to Iran’s Mehr news agency, the attackers entered a residence in the Sirakan neighborhood and opened fire, killing nine and wounding another three before fleeing the scene.

The vice governor of the province, Alireza Marhamati, confirmed the details, citing the accounts of the survivors of three armed assailants who carry out the attack.

The Pakistan ambassador to Tehran, Muhammad Mudassir Tipu, expressed his deep shock at that time, calling the “horrible” murders in an X publication (previously Twitter).

Recurrent violence underlines the growing insecurity in the eastern regions of Iran, where ethnic tensions, smuggling networks and militant activity have contributed to instability and frequent cross -border concerns.
