Islamabad:
The Superior Court of Islamabad (IHC) gave the Islamabad and Punjab police on Wednesday to recover four Afghan brothers who have been missing since January 2024.
Judge Muhammad Asif heard the petition on the disappearance of the brothers, which disappeared from the Federal Capital more than a year ago.
Senior police officers, including the excavations of Islamabad and Lahore, and the Rawalpindi RPO appeared before the court.
During the procedures, Judge Asif summoned the mother of missing men, Gul Sema, the PAkGazette and spoke with her in Pashto.
He later translated his words for the Court Chamber, saying: “She has been coming to the Superior Court since August. If her children have died, tell him.”
The judge added: “Those whose loved ones are losing every moment, how long will this continue?”
Dig Islamabad requested more time to track missing persons, which caused criticism of the petitioner’s lawyer, who pointed out that the case had been pending for eight months without results.
He also questioned if FIRS had registered and if they asked the four brothers.
Judge Asif also asked why the Police Inspector (PGI) was not present, as previously convened.
The government lawyer said the PGI was not available, but other senior officers attended.
Again he requested time to submit a new report.
“It makes no sense to repeatedly grant time,” said the judge. “We want to recover people. We are giving you two weeks, inform us about the results.”
The court ordered the recovery of the missing brothers within the given period and postponed the hearing until May 5.
