The Ravens coach wonders if Travis Hunter can be a bidirectional star in the NFL

The main prospect of the NFL Draft, Travis Hunter, said last week that he would prefer to leave football completely than to be recruited by a team that is not interested in using it as the two -way star that was in Colorado.

Speaking during a Predartft press conference on Tuesday, a chief coach expressed reservations about having a player on both sides of the ball.

Ravens de Baltimore Chief coach John Harbaugh and General Manager Eric Decosta spoke with the media before the Draft next week in Green Bay when Travis Hunter was raised.

“If we are talking about a guy like Travis Hunter, we would probably want to put it in a position,” said Decosta, recognizing that the Ravens will not be able to write a talent like Hunter with the 27th selection in the Draft.

Harbaugh added that, from a training perspective, it would be a difficult proposal for any player in the NFL.

“It will be interesting to see how they do it, wherever I go. But say that you will be completely immersed in everything you have to know in the offensive and everything you have to (know) defense, I do not know if there are enough hours in the day so that a player can do that and have every detail blocked.

“You could certainly do it, I think, on one side of the ball and then have some type of package on the other side of the ball, which is my assumption of how the team will do, wherever it goes.”

Travis Hunder says that “he would never” play football again if an NFL team just let him play one side of the ball

The former Colorado star said last week that not being able to play on both sides of the ball would be a decisive factor for him.

“He will never play football again,” Hunter told CBS Sports. “Because I’ve been doing it all my life, and I love being in the football field. I feel that I could master each side of the ball, so I really enjoy doing it.”

Last season, Hunter played 713 snapshots in the offensive and 748 snapshots in defense and was still productive despite the large number of snapshots. He had 96 trapped for 1,258 yards with 15 touchdowns as an open receiver and 35 cups with four interceptions, 11 defended passes and one forced as a corner.

“I guess we’ll play against him. So, we are about to discover how that team does,” said Harbaugh.
