Following last month’s attack on Jaffar Express, strict security measures have been implemented for trains operating between Quetta and other cities, including LaHore.
The number of deployed security personnel has increased from 11 to 40 years, he told the Railroad Inspector that the Rao Muhammad Tahir Police for the Express PAkGazette.
According to IG Tahir, the boundary walls will be built in the Quetta, Sibi and Mach railway stations to improve security. The guards will also be built in these places, and trained snipers will be implemented to guarantee better surveillance and response capacity.

To improve daily operations, all police stations under railroads have been supplied with essential stationery and basic items necessary for routine work.

The Jaffar Express was attacked on March 11 when the militants of the Baluchistan Liberation Army (BL) ambushed the train bound for Peshawar, which had 440 passengers. The assailants opened fire and took hostages, which caused a security operation that lasted two days.
Immediately after the attack, the security in train stations throughout the country had been reinforced.
Earlier this week, the Ministry of Railroads informed the National Assembly that security has been increased from a higher deployment of personnel of the Pakistan Railway Police (PRP) and Frontier Corps personnel (FC) at the railroad stations throughout the Quetta division.
Additional security has also been provided in Jaffar and Bolan Express trains that are executed between Quetta and Jacobabad.
Answering in writing to a question by MNA Shahida Rehmani, the Ministry said that FC staff has been parked in the key railway stations in the region, with pickets established in mountainous stretches between Mach and Sibi.
As additional caution, a pilot engine now precedes Jaffar Express daily of Quetta to Sibi to ensure that the track is free of any threat.
