Pakistan will display the “complete power spectrum”, including nuclear capacities, in response to any Indian military strike or interruption of critical water resources, warned its ambassador to Russia.
In a statement marked to the Russian station RT on Saturday, Ambassador Muhammad Khalid Jamali said Islamabad had intelligence that indicated an imminent Indian military action. “There are filtered documents that suggest plans to attack certain areas of Pakistan,” he said, describing the “imminent” threat.
Ambassador’s comments are still high tensions among neighbors with nuclear weapons after a deadly attack on April 22 in Jammu and Kashmir illegally occupied (Iiojk). Nueva Delhi has accused Islamabad to house militant groups, pointing to alleged Pakistani citizens linked to the assault in the Baisaran Valley, which killed multiple civilians.
Pakistan has denied participation, asking for international investigation and proposing that nations such as China and Russia participate. “We expect neutral and credible consultations about the incident,” said Jamali.
The envoy also issued a pointed warning about the suspension of India of the Indo Water Treaty, a long -standing agreement that governs the cross -border rivers. “Any attempt to usurp or divert the water would be an act of war and would meet all its strength,” he said.
Despite the hard rhetoric, Jamali emphasized the importance of restriction, noting that both countries have nuclear weapons. “There is the greatest need to decalize tensions,” he urged.
Following the attack, India expelled the Pakistani diplomats, suspended visa services and closed their land border with Pakistan. Islamabad responded in kind. Since then, New Delhi has announced more economic measures to degrade bilateral ties.
As diplomatic hostilities intensify, international observers urge calm among regional rivals, amid the fear of a possible military escalation.
