Pakistan Tehreek-E-Insaf (PTI) has announced that it will not participate in the government’s informative session on the current Pakistan-India tensions after Pahalgam’s incident, Express News reported Sunday.
In a statement issued after a meeting of the PTI Political Committee, the party reiterated its “unequivocal and consisting of all forms of terrorism.” The statement also highlighted the repeated calls of former Prime Minister Imran Khan to National Unity and internal stability, even while being imprisoned.
“Imran Khan, despite being illegally imprisoned, has clearly denounced terrorism and has urged the nation towards unity,” said the party, qualifying his message “that reflects the vision of a national leader.”
PTI reaffirmed his commitment to defend the country against external aggression and cited a resolution approved on its foundation day condemning Indian actions and propaganda.
The party criticized the government for not calling a conference from all parties (APC), arguing that such a step was crucial to build a consensus on national security. Instead, said PTI, a government minister was issuing unilateral information effortlessly to include key opposition figures such as Imran Khan.
“This is simply information directed by the Government without the intention of forging a national consensus,” the statement said. “In these circumstances, PTI see no value in participation.” The decision, the party said, was unanimously arrived by his political committee.
